Store Scores for Five Apps in October 2026

Kindroid leads on the App Store and among recorded Google Play scores, and Character.AI sits last on Play by a wide margin. The table records each listing as read on 14.10.2026, US storefronts only.

Read the iOS column with care. Every app clusters between 4.27 and 4.77, a half-point band too narrow to tell you which AI companion writes better replies. The Play column spreads much wider, and that spread is where the useful information sits.

Character.AI Gap Between iOS and Android

Two full points separate Character.AI's stores: 4.27 from 559,666 ratings on its App Store listing against 2.2 on Google Play, where it counts 50M+ downloads. Neither store explains the split, and any single cause offered for it would be a guess.

What a reader can do is weigh the lower number seriously. With 559,666 iOS ratings and 50M+ Play downloads behind it, Character.AI is too large for either figure to be waved away as a small sample. When an app this large earns a 2.2 on one platform, sort that store's comments by newest before trusting the friendlier figure.

Rating Volume Behind Nomi's 4.57

Nomi's iOS score rests on 2,941 ratings, about 190 times fewer than Character.AI's. A small base moves easily, so a 4.57 here carries less weight than a 4.44 drawn from Replika's 227,700 ratings.

Google Play backs up the caution. Nomi scores 3.7 there with 100K+ downloads, almost nine-tenths of a point below its iOS figure, so the two stores tell rather different stories about the same AI companion.

Kindroid shows the opposite pattern. Its 9,734 iOS ratings are a modest base too, yet its 4.4 on Play stays within four-tenths of a point of its 4.77 on iOS. Agreement between stores is a better reason to trust a score than the size of the score itself, and on that test Kindroid's lead holds up.

Downloads measure reach, not happiness. Character.AI has the most installs in the group, 50M+, and the lowest Play score of any AI girlfriend or character app listed here. Replika follows with 10M+ and EVA AI with 5M+, while Kindroid sits at 1M+ with the best scores on both stores.

A download figure also counts people who installed once and never returned, so it says little about who still chats a month later. Use it to tell an established app from an unknown one, then move on to the ratings.

Teen Labels Versus 18+ Listings

Replika and Character.AI both carry a Teen rating on Google Play, while their terms or App Store listings set 18+. That conflict matters for anyone using store labels to choose an AI girlfriend app, because the label suggests a gentler product than the terms describe.
